I'm proud of the Pope. Politics has not silenced him:
"Pope John Paul II has described the current debate about war and peace as a choice between good and evil and called on believers to personally reject evil during what Christians observe as the penitential season of Lent."
"The Pope has maintained that there is no moral or legal justification for war and has urged continuation of efforts pressing Iraq to get rid of its weapons of mass destruction without the use of military force."
By now you know I have no room for hate spewers and bigots in my mental environment. Read this report from Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting about MSNBC and their hiring of hate spewer Mike (Weiner) Savage "a legitimate attempt to expand the marketplace of ideas" . History shows us that acceptance of narrow minded, bigoted, hate speech in concert with thoughtless nationalism and a religiousity that denies the reality and very goodness of 'the enemy' in public discourse is a sign of a society's turning to Fascism. Look to the historical examples of the model of governance employed in Hitlers Nazi Germany, or Mussollini's Fascist Italy.
