What Democracy Looks Like
The March for Womens Lives was a resounding success! At least a half million participants, probably more. It sounds as if more young people are mobilizing to let their government know what they care about- more conscious caring voters will put "the fear" into our representitives; they want to get voted back into office. that which falls under the umbrella of "womens issues" are bedrock issues that affect us all, male, gay, childless, what have you- ALL of us.
The way women and children are treated in a society is a barometer of the society itself, of a culture's level of democracy and human decency. Consider that when you hear members of the "Christian Taliban" slurring feminists or touting such bills as The No Child Left Behind Act, refering to teachers as terrorists or deciding that their personal belief system should dictate what others do with their bodies.
Womens issues are peoples issues. I'm heartened by the turnout at The March for Womens Lives.
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. --Martin Luther King Jr.

A Sense of Place Endeavoring to bring the truth to light concerning our day-to-day material reality is a calling (compulsion?) of mine. But enquiring deeply merely into politics can "burn one out". Truth can leap out to us readily from art, the link I offer you combines mathematics and and a sense of the sublime essence driving our ongoing evolution as humans in our world, timeless wisdom meeting the information age to allow us to see all we are and can be as we navigate our "critterhood", -we need context. For our species and all others to survive a radical return to our earthly roots seems to be required. Our sense of the sacred needs to be reaquainted with our sense of being, of being-in-the-world. Then we have a more powerful, more stable place to act from. Our modern world relies too heavily on the abstract. Our lives as we live them are based on the Earth.
Peter Champoux has done some remarkable work uniting geomancy (gaiamancy) with fractal geometry. Take some time to explore the Geometry of Place. It is eye opening and thought provoking. Refining this work has occupied him for years, and I thank him for the effort.
