The online version of The American Prospect has a well done article by Robert Reich both about Karl Rove as well as his time tested techniques in shaping the media 'spin' we are awash in when we take in any mainstream 'news' about the policy choices of the Bush administration.
A group of intelligence professionals remind Mr Bush that context, a sense of history would help his analysis as well as that of the American people. When the "company line" about attacking Iraq doesn't seem to hold water what are we to think? Perhaps Corporate bottom lines? You'll note Karl Roves' presence in this article as well.
Chuck Mcgee , executive director of the New Hampshire GOP resigned after it was found he hired a group called GOP Marketplace, and lied about it; and furthermore according to him that company took it upon themselves to hire another company to "repeatedly call" certain numbers; those of the Democratic Party as well as the Firemens Union phone banks- on election day.. The resultant jamming kept folks from getting free rides to the poles. Nothing like keeping an elderly person from exercising the franchise in the name of Republican victory. Now, I hear you asking "Well, is there a Karl Rove connection?" My friends, he is scheduled to speak in a couple places in New Hampshire mid March is all I know for sure : ).
In less lighthearted mode, members of the Republican Party have been involved in some questionable incidents; from the Rats "subliminal" advertisement flap to the more serious issue of disenfranchising voters in Florida in 2000 presidential elections- as well as Jeb Bush's race for governor- Florida has still not reconciled the issue. OK, you should skip the 'Rats' link and read the linked materials on Florida and election hijinx.
Here is a review of 'Boy Genius'. It speaks a bit of Karl Rove; a thumbnail sketch of hardcore politics. I didn't say democracy.
